  • Brisbane Second Division Grand Finals

    The final Grand Finals for the year, in Premier Grade, Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield and Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield were played at Davies Park in front of a crowd of around 3000 spectators.


    In Premier Grade, Deception Bay led Easts Juniors 10-8 at half time, with both teams scoring two tries. Easts Juniors came back strongly in the second half, to score five tries to four overall and win the match, and the premiership, 26-22.

    In the Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield, Logan Brothers led Easts Juniors 14-4 at half time, having scored three tries to one. Logan Brothers held on to win the match, and the premiership, 22-20, scoring five tries to four overall.

    In the Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield, Carina scored five tries to two in the first half to lead Aspley 28-10 at half time. Carina finished up scoring six tries to five overall, to win the match, and the premiership, 36-24.

    Went down and watched some of thefooty.com crews young fellas run around in Brisbane Junior Rugby League Grand Finals today.

    It was a day of contrasting results as young Popey's Mt Gravatt Eagles U11's  went down 18-12 to the Springwood Tigers. Eagles who were Minor Premiers, lost the major semi, bounced back strongly in the Preliminary Final only to stumble in the big dance.

    Jonnos young fella, runs around in the Capalaba Warriors and they have been on a winning streak now for four games, as they had to win their final two games to sneak into fourth, and then continued winning to steal a Premiership.

    Today, they scored three time with their first three touches leaving the Greenback Raiders shellshocked at 16-0. They couldn't bridge the gap and the game ended with Capalaba Premiers at 20-12.

    Junior footy is great and it is always an uplifting experience. You always hear about the incidents that happen very rarely, but today the games were played in great spirit, and the parents support was strong. Congrats to all teams and players who played off in Grand Finals this weekend.

  • Brisbane Second Division Results August 29: Preliminary Finals

    Preliminary Finals in Premier Grade, Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield and Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield were played at Davies Park in front of a crowd of just under 1250 spectators.


    In the Premier Grade Preliminary Final, Deception Bay Bombers were far too strong for Carina in the first half, scoring three tries to none and leading 16-0 at half time. Carina came back in the second half and scored three tries to Deception Bay’s two for the half, but Deception Bay scored five tries to three overall and won the match 26-18. Deception Bay will now play Easts Juniors in the Grand Final next Saturday at Davies Park at 3.00 PM.


    Easts Juniors were too strong for Capalaba in the first half of the Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield Preliminary Final, scoring five tries to none in the half and leading 22-0 at half time. Capalaba scored three tries to two in the second half, but Easts Juniors won the match 32-16, scoring seven tries to three overall. Easts Juniors will play Logan Brothers next Saturday in the Grand Final at Davies Park at 1.15 PM.


    In the Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield, Carina scored two tries to one in the first half against Sunnybank to lead 14-6 at half time. It was one try to each team in the second half, with Carina winning 20-12, scoring three tries to two overall. Carina will now play Aspley in the Grand Final next Saturday at Davies Park at 11.30 AM

  • Brisbane Second Division Results

    Grand Finals in Southside 2, Southside 3 and Southside 4 were played at Davies Park in front of a crowd of just under 4,000 spectators. Semi finals were played in Premier Grade, Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield and Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield.


    In Southside 2, Inala had a very strong first half against St Brendans, scoring four tries to none and leading 20-0 at half time. St Brendans came back in the second half and scored two tries to Inala’s one in the half, but Inala won the match, and the premiership 26-12.


    The Southside 3 Grand Final was a tight match throughout. Carina scored three tries to one in the first half, to lead Logan Wanderers 12-4 at half time. Both teams scored one try each in the second half, giving Carina the match, and the premiership, 16-10, with Carina scoring four tries to two overall.


    In the Southside 4 Grand Final, Bulimba Valleys led Wests Centenary 8-2 at half time, scoring two tries to one. Despite a strong comeback by Centenary late in the second half, Bulimba won the match, and the premiership, 26-16, scoring four tries to three overall.

    In the Premier Grade semi finals, Deception Bay scored five tries to two against Banyo to win their elimination semi 28-8, after having led 12-4 at half time. Easts Juniors and Carina both scored three tries in the major semi, with Easts Juniors having led 8-4 at half time. Goal kicking was the difference, with Easts Juniors kicking four goals to none from Carina, to win the match 20-12. Carina will play Deception Bay Bombers in the Preliminary Final next Saturday at Davies Park at 3.00 PM, with Easts Juniors going through to the Grand Final the following week.

    In the Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield, Easts Juniors beat Valleys Juniors 46-16 in the elimination semi and Logan Brothers beat Capalaba 26-22 in the major semi. Capalaba will play Easts Juniors next Saturday at Davies Park in the Preliminary Final at 1.15 PM, with the winner to play Logan Brothers the following week in the Grand Final.


    In the Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield semi finals, Carina beat Mt Gravatt 31-30 in the elimination semi, with both teams coring five tries and Mt Gravatt having led 18-10 at half time. Aspley beat Sunnybank 36-24 in the major semi, scoring six tries to four and leading 24-12 at half time. Next Saturday, Sunnybank will play Carina in the Preliminary Final at Davies Park at 11.30 AM, with the winner to play Aspley in the Grand Final the following week.

    In the Southside 2 Preliminary Final, Inala scored three tries to one in the first half to lead Wests Centenary 18-6 at half time. Inala scored another try and two goals in the second half to win the match 26-6. St Brendans will play Inala next Saturday in the Grand Final at Davies Park at 3.00 PM.


    In the Southside 3 Preliminary Final between Carina and Mustangs Brothers, Carina scored five tries to one in the first half to lead 28-4 at half time. In the second half, Carina scored another five tries to two, to win the match 58-14. Logan Wanderers will play Carina in the Grand Final next Saturday at Davies Park at 1.15 PM.

    In the Southside 4 Preliminary Final, Wests Centenary scored three tries to one in the first half against Mustangs Brothers to lead 16-6 at half time. Both teams scored another two tries in the second half, with Wests Centenary winning the match 28-14. Bulimba Valleys will play Wests Centenary in the Grand Final next Saturday at Davies Park at 11.30 AM.

    Easts Juniors and Banyo did not play in Premier Grade as their match had already been played in June as the Ted Beaumont Trophy match. Easts Juniors won the minor premiership on 40 points. Carina had the bye to finish on 29 points, while Banyo finished on 28 points. Deception Bay and Valleys Juniors both finished on 27 points after Deception Bay beat Arana Hills 36-16 and Valleys beat Aspley 20-6. Deception Bay finished in fourth place on points for and against. In the other match, Wynnum Juniors and Redlands drew 18-all, leaving Aspley on 14, Arana Hills on 13 and Wynnum and Redlands both on 11 points. In the semi finals next week at Arana Hills, Banyo will play Deception Bay in the elimination semi at 1.15 PM and Easts Juniors will play Carina in the major semi at 3.00 PM.

In next week’s semi finals at Mitchelton, Easts Juniors will play Valleys Juniors in the elimination semi at 1.15 PM and Logan Brothers will play Capalaba in the major semi at 3.00 PM.

Pine Central Holy Spirit beat Deception Bay 14-10 to finish on 26 points, while St Josephs received a forfeit from Valleys to share 25 points with Mustangs. Mitchelton finished on 17 points, Deception Bay on 15, Valleys on 10 and Banyo on 6 points. In next week’s semi finals at Emerson Park, Carina will play Mt Gravatt in the elimination semi at 1.15 PM and Aspley will play Sunnybank in the major semi at 3.00 PM.

    In a fourth Grand Final next Saturday at Davies Park, Souths Logan will play Sunshine Coast Sirens in the Grand Final of the Brisbane Womens Rugby League at 4.45 PM

  • Brisbane Second Division Results August 8

    Grand Finals were played in Northside 2 and Northside 3 and semi finals were played in Southside 2, Southside 3 and Southside 4. There was crowd of around 3,500 at the Grand Finals at Davies Park.


    Dayboro played Mitchelton in the Northside 2 Grand Final. Mitchelton led 8-4 at half time, but Dayboro came back strongly in the second half to win the match, and the premiership, 14-12 with both teams scoring three tries each.


    In Northside 3, Brothers Juniors led Pine Central Holy Spirit 16-10 at half time. Brothers were too strong in the second half, scoring nine tries to three overall and winning the match, and the premiership, 40-16.


    In the Southside 2 elimination semi final, Wests Centenary scored four tries to three to defeat Mt Gravatt 23-16, after leading 6-4 at half time. In the major semi final, St Brendans raced to an early 20-0 lead over Inala in the first half. The second half was more even with St Brendans scoring five tries to one overall in defeating Inala 26-4. In next Saturday’s Preliminary Final at 3.00 PM at Davies Park, Inala will play Wests Centenary, with St Brendans going through to the Grand Final the following week.


    In the Southside 3 elimination semi final, Mustangs Brothers scored seven tries to four to defeat St Brendans 34-24. In the major semi final between Logan Wanderers and Carina, it was three tries to each team, but Logan Wanderers kicked three goals to Carina’s one, to win the match 18-14. In the Preliminary Final next week at Davies park at 1.15 PM, Carina will play Mustangs Brothers, with Logan Wanderers going straight through to the Grand Final the following week.


    In the Southside 4 elimination semi final, Wests Centenary defeated Logan Brothers 22-20. In the major semi final, Bulimba Valleys got up narrowly, 18-14, in one of their closest matches of the season, with Bulimba scoring four tries to three. In next week’s Preliminary Final at Davies Park, Carina will play Wests Centenary at 11.30 AM, with Bulimba Valleys going through to the Grand Final the following week.


    Easts Juniors had the bye in the Premier Grade to retain the competition lead on 40 points. Banyo beat Deception Bay Bombers 26-18 to move into second place, on 28 points, while Carina beat Wynnum Juniors 26-16 to move to 27 points. Deception Bay now shares 25 points with Valleys, who beat Redlands 40-10. In the other match, Aspley beat Arana Hills 24-22 to leave Aspley on 14, Arana Hills on 13 and Wynnum Juniors and Redlands are both on 10 points.


    In the Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield, Logan Brothers received a forfeit from Browns Plains, to retain the competition lead on 35 points. Capalaba beat Albany Creek 24 22 to move to 33 points and Easts Juniors beat Graceville 66-0 to go to 32 points. Valleys Juniors had the bye to move into fourth place, on 24 points, with Albany Creek in fifth place, on 23 points. In the other match, Arana Hills beat St Josephs 42 20, leaving Graceville on 16, St Josephs on 12, Arana Hills on 11 and Browns Plains on 4 points.
    In the Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield, Aspley and Sunnybank share the competition lead on 28 points after Aspley beat Valleys 80-14 and Sunnybank beat Holy Spirit 16 6. Carina received a forfeit from Banyo to move to 27 points, Mustangs and Mt Gravatt share 25 points, after Mustangs had the bye and Mt Gravatt beat Deception Bay 36-18. Pine Central is on 24 points and St Josephs beat Mitchelton 46-18 to be on 23 points. Mitchelton is on 17 points, Deception Bay on 15, Valleys on 10 and Banyo on 6 points.

Both teams scored a further try in the second half, but the extra goal to Pine Central gave them the win 16-14. Brothers Juniors will play Pine Central Holy Spirit in the Grand Final next Saturday at Davies Park at 1.15 PM.

    Easts Juniors continue in the lead in Premier Grade, on 38 points, after beating Deception Bay 20-12. Banyo beat Aspley 20-18 to move into second place on 26 points, with Deception Bay a point back on 25 points, which they share with Carina, who beat Valleys 18-10. In the other match, Arana Hills beat Redlands 30-6, leaving Valleys on 23, Arana Hills on 13, Aspley on 12 and Wynnum Juniors and Redlands both on 10 points.

In the other match, Edens Landing beat North Stradbroke Island 29-26 and Waterford had the bye. This leaves Edens landing on 25, Redlands on 21, North Stradbroke Island and Sunnybank both on 18 points, Souths on 15, Wynnum on 12 and Waterford on 10 points. In next Saturday’s semi finals at Peter McIlwain Oval, Mustangs Brothers will play St Brendans in the elimination semi at 1.15 PM and Carina will play Logan Wanderers in the major semi at 3.00 PM.

Inala received a forfeit from Logan Wanderers to also finish on 22 points, but they were eliminated from the semis on points for and against. In the other matches, Logan City Chiefs beat Slacks Creek 44-14 and Waterford beat Mustangs Brothers 40-16, leaving Beenleigh on 20 points, Logan City Chiefs on 19, Logan Wanderers on 17, Waterford on 15, Slacks Creek on 14, Sunnybank on 13 and Mustangs Brothers on 1 point.     In the Southside 3 semi finals at Peter McIlwain Oval, Mustangs Brothers will play St Brendans in the elimination semi at 1.15 PM and Carina will play Logan Wanderers in the major semi at 3.00 PM.

  • Brisbane Second Division:Wrap-up of fixtures played 25 July 2009

    The first semi finals for the year were played – in Northside 2 and Northside 3.

    In the Northside 2 elimination semi final, Nundah Devils led Mitchelton 10-6 at half time, but Mitchelton came back in the second half to win the match 24-14, scoring five tries to three. In the major semi final, Pine Rivers led Dayboro 12-10 at half time. At full time the scores were locked at 24-all with both teams scoring five tries. Dayboro went on to score a try in golden point to win the match 28-24. Next Saturday Pine Rivers will play Mitchelton in the Preliminary Final at Davies Park at 3.00 PM, with Dayboro going through to the Grand Final the following week.

    In Northside 3, Ferny Grove led Arana Hills 16-0 at half time in the elimination semi final, before going on to win the match 32-6, scoring seven tries to one. In the major semi final, Brothers Juniors led Pine Central Holy Spirit 14-6 at half time, before going on to win the match 36-10, scoring seven tries to two. Next Saturday, Pine Central will play Ferny Grove in the Preliminary Final at Davies Park at 1.15 PM, while Brothers Juniors will go through to the Grand Final the following week.

Aspley is on 12 points, Arana Hills on 11, Redlands on 10 and Wynnum Juniors are on 8 points.

    In Southside 2, St Brendans beat Wynnum Juniors 34-18 to retain the competition lead on 29 points. Centenary beat Mt Gravatt 23-10 to be on 26 points while Inala stays on 25 points after being beaten 34-22 by Slacks Creek and Mt Gravatt is in fourth place on 19 points. In the other match, Sunnybank beat Rochedale 46-16, leaving Slacks Creek on 18, Sunnybank on 17, Wynnum on 16 and Rochedale on 4 points.

    Carina received a forfeit from Waterford in Southside 3 to stay in the competition lead on 31 points. Logan Wanderers beat Redlands 44-8 to be in second place, on 29 points and Mustangs stay on 27 points after being beaten 36-28 by Edens Landing. St Brendans beat North Stradbroke Island 36-30 to be in fourth place on 26 points. Edens Landing is on 23 points, with Redlands on 21 points. In the other match, Sunnybank beat Souths 38-30 and Wynnum Juniors had the bye, leaving North Stradbroke and Sunnybank both on 18 points, Souths on 15, Wynnum on 12 and Waterford on 8 points.

    In Southside 4, Bulimba received a forfeit from Slacks Creek to retain the competition lead on 37 points. Carina beat Waterford 26-12 to be in second place on 28 points, while Centenary stays on 25 points, after being beaten 48-26 by Inala. Logan Brothers, Inala and Beenleigh Juniors all share 20 points after Logan Brothers beat Mustangs 54-2 and Beenleigh beat Logan Wanderers 32-26. Logan Wanderers and Logan City Chiefs share 17 points after the Chiefs received a forfeit from Sunnybank. Slacks Creek is on 14 points, Waterford on 13, Sunnybank on 12 and Mustangs on 1 point.

    Logan Brothers and Easts Juniors did not play in the Under 22 Albert Bishop Shield, having already played their match as the Ted Beaumont Trophy match in June. In the only match played, Valleys Juniors beat Albany Creek 28-20. In the other two scheduled matches, Norths St Josephs forfeited to Souths Graceville and Arana Hills forfeited to Capalaba. This leaves the competition table with Logan Brothers on 31, Capalaba 29, Easts Juniors 28, Albany Creek 21, Valleys Juniors 20, Graceville 16, St Josephs 12, Arana Hills 9 and Browns Plains on 4 points.

    In the Under 20 Arthur Sparks Shield, Sunnybank and Aspley share the competition lead on 24 points, after Sunnybank beat St Josephs 26-10 and Aspley beat Deception Bay 44-28. Inala moves to 25 points after drawing 16-all with Mt Gravatt, while Wests Centenary stays on 24 points after being beaten 16-14 by Wynnum Juniors. Mt Gravatt moves to 19 points. In the other match, Slacks Creek beat Sunnybank 28 18 to share 16 points with Wynnum, with Sunnybank on 15 and Rochedale on 4 points.
